Babysitting R.O.C.K.S.

Sometimes it can be pretty difficult to find a summer job as a teen. If you enjoy children, have you considered becoming a babysitter? Babysitting R.O.C.K.S (Recognizing Outstanding Creative Kids and Sitters) is a one day workshop for teens who are interested in learning what it takes to be a responsible and professional babysitter. Whether you are just beginning or have some experience in the field, this course will be beneficial to babysitters of all levels. We cover a wide range of topics through games, group discussion, and activities that will equip the participant with the confidence and knowledge needed to become successful in the business of babysitting.

Participants will learn:

  • The necessary information for you to become a capable, caring, trustworthy and responsible sitter
  • The roles and responsibilities of babysitters and parents of young children
  • How to care for and keep young children safe and happy
  • How to solve problems related to minor accidents, emergencies, and behavior
  • To understand the physical, social, mental, and emotional characteristics of young children
  • How to communicate with young children during playtime using toys and games
  • How to save and invest the money you earn
  • How to develop a positive attitude about the care of children

When: Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Where: UT Extension Marshall County (230 College St. Suite 160)
Cost: $30 (Includes lunch and all materials)

For youth ages 12-18. Space is limited.
