How it Works
Chick Chain is a unique way for youth to raise their own flock at home and learn about poultry in a hands-on experience. Chick Chain teaches responsibility, financial management, record keeping, communication, and marketing all while allowing participants to enjoy their project and reap the rewards of their hard work. New participants attend a mandatory meeting on “how to” raise blue ribbon pullets (a term used to describe a female hen before she lays eggs). This meeting will be held on February 24th.
In August, youth bring their hens to show and sell if they wish to do so. If the students choose to auction their hens, they get to keep all the proceeds from the auction!
